Where the Wild Things Are

Here’s a poster for the ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ film due to be released later this year. It will be interesting to see how such a well loved children’s book is adapted for the big screen. Screen shots after the jump.
‘Where the Wild Things Are’ was written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak in 1963 and has managed to be a staple on children’s book shelves ever since. His unique illustrative style has set it aside from other children’s books.
The film adaptation is being directed by Spike Jonze, a director more famous for music videos than films, but one whose work often has a quirky nature to it. I’m very interested to see how the wild things are recreated with costumes, puppetry and CGI from their original illustrations. Let’s hope they don’t lose the characteristics that made them so intriguing and just a little bit frightening when we were children.

This brings back memories, I used to have a poster up on my bedroom wall when I was younger my Mum thought it would give me nightmares but I loved it - the stills look beautiful can not wait to see the film,

I never heard of the book but I watched the trailer and I want to see the movie. I love it!
